“Accompaniment”
DAVID BERNSTEIN
“Accompaniment”
This work is called Accompaniment. I made it because I don’t smoke cigarettes but want to accompany people when they do. Also because I want something to hold on to. I looked up the definition of “accompaniment” and it means: “an addition intended to give completeness or symmetry to something.” The word originates from “companion,” which comes from “com” and “panis.” “Com” means “with,” and “panis” means “bread.” So a companion is someone with whom you share bread.
From altalang.com: “The history of the word teaches us that food is the fuel of relationships. It reminds us that food feeds more than the physical body; it also nourishes generosity and friendship.”
